ECONAR® Energy Systems - Commercial Case Study
Prairie State Bank - Appleton, Minnesota

Prairie State Bank in Appleton, MN, was built in 1978 and originally was heated and cooled by two air-source heat pumps. In 1999, they retrofit the building with two ECONAR GeoSource 2000 heat pumps. Jim Rittenour, bank president, was initially concerned that the bank would notice the noise of the compressors. Upon installation, he found otherwise. “They are perfect,” Rittenour says, “They are quiet, and take up less space than our old system.”

Geo$ense®

With the original air-source heat pumps, the bank had to rely on backup electric resistance heat to stay warm in the winter. Not this year, says Rittenour. “We haven’t even had to turn the circuit breakers on for the electric backup” boasts Rittenour.
