ECONAR® Energy Systems - Earth Loop Field -
Typical Residential Vertical Loop

For a typical residence a geothermal earth loop installer will bore one hole per ton of installed heat pump at a depth of 170 feet or its equivalent of total bore hole. Two pipes are inserted per hole connected together at the bottom of the hole with a u-bend, creating 340 feet of pipe per ton. The holes are then sealed from the bottom up using a grouting solution.
