ECONAR® Energy Systems - Earth Loop Field
Typical Residential - Lake or Pond Loop

Pond loops, like most earth loops, are constructed from ¾” HDPE cell classification 3408., with 450’ of pipe per ton of required capacity. Coils are tied in a three foot diameter spaced four inches apart using nylon cable ties. When tied as described each circuit measures approximately 3’ x 22’.

The pond loop must be submerged to at least the depth required for a horizontal earth loop for the region. The loop pipe floats even when filled with solution therefore it must be weighted. The recommended method of doing this is to use chain link fence over the entire pond loop, this serves both as a uniform weight and protects the coils. The header pipe to and from the pond loop must also be buried at the depth required for horizontal earth loop for the region.
