ECONAR® Energy Systems - Earth Loop
Field
Corcoran City Center Slinky Loop
When the City of Corcoran decided to use ECONAR GeoSource
2000 heat pumps in their new City Center, they also decided to use the
horizontal slinky loop design for their earth loop. In order to accommodate
the 32 tons of capacity in the building, forty 600 foot slinky loops were
used. The loop field is 80 feet wide, 165 feet long, and is 7 feet below
the surface. The loop was buried this deep in order to protect the loop
from frost. The loop consists of 24,368 feet of pipe. This pipe has a
50-year warranty, and has usable life of over 100 years. The earth loop
contractor for the Corcoran City Center was Anderson Mechanical from Forest
Lake, MN.
