3 heating stages and 2 cooling stages provide the right amount of heating or cooling. When it's cool outside, the 1st stage carries the load. As the temperature drops, the 2nd stage kicks in to provide additional warmth. On those very rare days when it's really cold, the 3rd stage provides even further warmth. In cooling mode, the 1st stage carries the load on warm days and the 2nd stage kicks in on hot days for that extra cooling boost.

The fan's operation supports the heating or cooling stage. As the number of stages increase, so do the fan speeds, providing the right amount airflow. The Vara 2 Plus uses a state of the art GE ECM fan motor that provides significant cost savings compared to partial load running of traditional PSC fan motors. With the ECM motor, you can have all the comfort benefits of a cleaner home and for some relief from airborne irritants without spending a lot on fan operating costs.
